Satyros Phil Brucato writes for this card:
When Fear traps us in its razor-bladed hell, escape often seems impossible. Yet as long as we’re alive, we’re never truly hopeless. Courage is our weapon in such situations, and while we must eventually surrender to mortality, we can still carve out a life worth remembering before we go.
Sword-dancing turns the art of war into a spectacular skill. Sharp edges cut both ways, and a little bloodshed is inevitable when learning how to use a blade. Still, a person who’s determined (or desperate) enough to master such arts can weave a glorious trail of steel and blood and fire in their wake. To do so, you must learn to face terror on its own terms and make yourself an instrument of change. Literally and symbolically, blades divide one state from another; where one passes through, the landscape gets transformed. In the hands of someone who knows how to use them, blades can cut new paths through apparent hopelessness, lighting a way through the darkness of Fear.

Just speechless with this one. I like the high level of content as if fear needs a tab on everything there could be that others fear.

Beautiful and haunting. Very different, and darker than your usual paintings, but it works perfectly for "fear". :)

Very beautiful. It's like an incorporation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Nazgul (specifically how they appeared in the confrontation on Amon Sul) and Edgar Allan Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum". :)

I'm going through a great change in my life for the first time. For three months I have been afraid, chilled cold by fear of what lay before me. I've cried many nights in mourning the death of my marriage and the new changes that are coming my way. This painting, I'd say, expresses exactly how I feel right now. I'm about to board a train in two days. The movers are coming tomorrow to take my belongs cross country. The train to me symbolizes leaving my past behind. A trail from which I once had come a long way. Those stairs in the painting I'd say symbolize just that for me. The masks of dark spirits lining the path for her, symbolize the fears I saw in myself. Once the masks were taken off I could face them and see what and who they really were. The swords, for me would be wings. They are sharp when ruffled the wrong way and cut those who try to hurt me. I have grown them again and so I carry my strength through those wings. I can relate to this painting in many, many ways. If and when this piece is up for sale, a print or the original, I'd love to buy it when the day comes.

My dearest friend is trapped right now in a prison made of nothing more than fear, and the fear of anger... it destroys my heart to see how hopeless and terrified she is that there is no way out, and I can do nothing but pray she makes the right decision and faces a terrifying situation in order to gain the freedom she so desperately needs. I would like nothing more than to see her make it as far as you have. I see her in this painting too. I don't know how to give her a sword to free herself with....
Thank you for sharing your story. I won't give up on my friend.

Well, things have taken a turn for the worse for me, however I have the tools to get out thankfully. My time in Maryland turned 'south'. Long story, but first step is in transit right now back to Tennessee of all my belongs. Now to get my check deposited and then a train ticket home to my family. I 'thought' Maryland would be fine, but there was nothing in between each city or town. There is no bus service or train service to and fro which would make me stuck even if I had a job cause the paychecks would go to gas and then I would be truly stuck here. On top of that, my 18 years worth of friendship with Elly has gone odd as she is in the hospital now, the day after I arrived and her fiancee is at work. So, I had no car, no car insurance and my check is waiting to be deposited. Yeah, I'm stuck again, but this time there is a way out. I hope your friend has the mind set to get herself out. All we can do these days is trust ourselves and do it on our own. People have betrayed me for so long and turned their back that I have to do it myself now. The hardest part right now is waiting and it's snowing outside, too. If you want to read more...go to my LJ account: mythianworld or Tumblr account: [link] I'm tracking it all in my journals. There's a novel in all this, I just know it. ^____^

I have the tools 'the sword', but the hardest part right now in this major change is waiting for my next move. If you feel inspired to read more of my 'adventure'...go to my LiveJournal: mythianworld or Tumblr: [link] amongst all of this there is a novel in there somewhere for me to write later. I just know it. ^____^
