Cover illustration an anthology of short stories entitled "Fantastical Visions - Volume III," edited by W.H. Horner. Available in Spring 2005. For more details: [link] There are also about 25 interior pencil illustrations I did for this book. I'll make note in my journal when it's available.
The cover was meant to be a wraparound, but there was going to be a lot of dead space on the back side for the text. So I decided to make this painting in the format you see so that the composition worked on its own as a painting, and then after I had scanned it, I added more to the left and move some elements around to accomodate the format for the book with the text and barcodes and things. Your coloring skills are just so wonderful. It's almost dreamlike.
I especially like how the was has the holes in it, giving way to green life. The green adds a nice touch.
