The mythical sunken city of Ys. It was built by King Gradlon for his beloved daughter Dahut, and through treachery, the cities gates were thrown open to the wild elements and swallowed beneath the waves.

It is said that on stormy nights, you can hear the sound of the ghostly bells ringing out across the waters. Mournful memory of the glory that once existed in Bay of Douarnenez, off the coast of Brittany.

* * *
The sailors and fishers have seen the gilt shadows
stretching proud arches upon the glass seas;
and I have heard echos of eons dead bells
drifting in tides of ghost melodies.

Is it silly for me to first notice your design for her fin? I love the design for it, and of course the composition for the rest of the piece as well. I actually just wish the bell would pop out just a little bit more - it seems important to the story and would create a nice focal point. But it is another stunning piece! :heart:

It looks like Atlantis but I think the story is much older. Beautiful colors and I love the mermaid and the underwater city and the fish and the turtle and the bell. /fav
